Continuous Professional Development (CPD) courses/Introductory courses
The institute of Martial Arts and Sciences offer a wide variety of short, intensive courses especially for the busy martial arts instructor. These courses cover the following skills:
- Health and safety
- Child Protection/Safeguarding
- Equality and Diversity
- Anatomy and Physiology
- First Aid (martial arts specific)
- Methods of Instruction
- Personal Safety
- Control and Restraint
These short courses may also be studied via distance learning with lessons, assignments and assessments being carried out electronically. Upon completion, all students will receive a IMAS certificate of completion
Further Education and Training:
Other qualifications are available at the certificate and diploma level in various aspects of the martial arts and related fields:
- Origins, history and traditions
- Religious and philosophical influences
- Psychology of conflict
- IMAS Teaching Certificate
- Performance Coaching
Duration of these courses range from a few weeks to a year, depending upon the level of learning/subject(s) covered. IMAS is an approved centre for training and education and also maintains membership of Skills Active, the official skill sector council for sport and recreation
